Sled/Caddy Requirement issued
ISDCF (Intersociety Digital Cinema Forum) is an inter-industry group that meets once a month and includes participation from Exhibition, Distribution, Equipment and Service providers in the Digital Cinema industry.
ISDCF is studying and plans to make recommendations for the delivery of digital cinema packages (DCP) (roughly 100 and 300Gbytes per package) from distribution depots to theaters. We are now studying the use of common sled/caddy solutions. We are asking for availability and description of candidate sled/caddy solutions. We would encourage descriptions in writing and we will offer the opportunity to attend and discuss solutions at our meeting on March 7, 2007 in Burbank, California. ISDCF does NOT set the standard or make a requirement. ISDCF may make voluntary non-binding recommendations for the industry.
We have assembled a short wish-list of attributes for sled/caddy solutions:

One common solution/recommendation
Greater than 1,000 inserts
SATA-II conductivity in Sled mode
Operational lock for no damage removal
Sled robust for shipping
Multiple Manufacturers
Licensable technology (including license terms)
Support of HDD from 500G and up
CADDY
Removable Caddy that provides separate adapter that can provide USB2 (required) and eSATA (optional) conductivity: Provide power (IEC socket AC plug only)
